nice!

LMAO! That was hilarious!

Great art, as usual. It's nice to see what you're capable of in Flash... and I know your work will only get better! My only suggestions: preloader and replay button make a huge difference.

Good to see your familiar style, my friend. You're still my hero. Hope to see more soon!

(Tell the others I said hi. ;) )

aba1 responds:

lmfao kk i will nd this was highly rushed XD i have a preloader and i had a whole menu i loved n everything it was being gay and the movie took 10 min to export at the least ussually 20 so i said fuck it yup the preloader plays when it loads itself

Epic-ly epic!

I have never seen such graphics in my life. The plot held so much mystery that I was literally riveted to the screen the entire time. The scene at the end was heart stopping. And the dialogue... that, too, was filled with mystery and intrigue.

This epic flash is sure to be featured on the front page, and I'm proud to say I watched it while it was under judgement.

Also, Hemlok = <3.

Also, MetalDart = <3.

Also, Party Van = <3.

Also, OMG 10/10.

MetalDart responds:

MetalDart: If this gets hosted on the front page, I'll take a picture of my ass.

Hemlok: You are the coolest person in existance. Besides MetalDart of course.

That was amazing.

That was easily the best of the the Christmas movies I've seen submitted this year, while also being one of the saddest things I've ever watched. You made me cry like a schoolgirl with a skinned knee... seriously.

I could write a long review, break down each category, and tell you how you did in each one, but I don't need to, because I can sum the whole thing up in two words: "It's perfect."

Fifened, 10/10, faved, and plugged on my blog and elsewhere.

Eternal-Panda responds:

Hey thanks man, glad you enjoyed it.

Merry Christmas

Great job!

Wow, that's quite a long song! I was afraid you were going to cut it off before the end, but you pulled it all the way through! Most excellent.

The graphics are a bit simple, and could use a little bit of work, but you'll get better over time, and they were passable, so I didn't hold them against you too much. The lip syncing was remarkably close, and that's hard to do -- especially for a song of that length.

I'm seeing Stephen Lynch when he's in Seattle in a couple of months, so this is especially awesome to see. :)

So, 10/10, 5/5. Nice job. :)

Sonofgoku1 responds:

Thanks for the critical review. * I like critiques!*

The graphics were made about a year, ago, and I've gotten alot better and drawing them since then. The next one will be of Definite higher quality.

Oh! I got Stephen Lynch- live at el ray for x mas, so I'm so happy right now!

Happy holidays!

Nice job.

I liked this, and for what it's worth, I *liked* the fact that, for a change, there wasn't an explosion or a death at the end of this short. It was a cute idea, and the execution was done quite well.

Sure, it could've been a little longer, but I've fifened it because I think it should definitely survive.

Merry Christmas to you!

ACE-Corn responds:

Thanks, Merry Christmas

Hmmmmm.

The message here is terrific, but the delivery is lacking -- especially considering your obviously amazing animation and graphic abilities, and the phenomenal musical abilities of David Orr. The film begins with an amazing menu and opening sequence, but then immediately deteriorates into a disjointed slide show that spouts religious catch-phrases and seemingly random slides that don't make sense with the *movie*. Boy walking down the street fades to earth fades to pictures of Jesus in random situations fades to the fish fades to a nighttime outdoor scene fades back to the boy. End with a page of fine print. This just doesn't work as a movie.

Don't get me wrong. I truly respect what you are doing, and I think it is a great -- if not a bit challenging -- idea to minister to Newgrounds, but I think you'll need to use those animation skills in a different fashion to draw your audience in and hold its attention. Tell us a story of how faith helped that walking boy, but do it without being cheesy. Hook your audience with an amazing story and beautiful presentation, and interlace *that* with some tales of Jesus. If you make an amazing flash, you will impress your viewers with your skills, which will go a long way toward delivering your message to everyone.

Blindside the unwary with a magnificent movie that *shows* the love of Jesus. WOW your viewers with the awesome power of your animation, and SHOW them Jesus through your incredible film! Remember, you're competing with Brackenwood and Tankmen and Xombie and Blockhead here. What do those movies have that yours doesn't? A plot line, excellent cinematics, and sometimes humour. If you take your impressive visuals and use those to tell a story and deliver your message indirectly through that story, you will FLOOR your viewers -- and then, you can hit them with your message.

I voted 5/5, because anything is better than nothing, but I think you have the capability to do far, far more than this.

Breakdown on my rating:
Graphics: 7. Impressive, yet empty in so many ways. See above.
Style: 7. Again, see above.
Sound: 10. The sound was amazing in every way.
Violence: 2, for the one image of Jesus on the cross -- which was completely unrelated to the rest of the film's story.
Interactivity: 5. Play, replay, and an excellent bio menu at the beginning. Great job with that, but couldn't you have programmed a menu at the end -- a "tell me more about Jesus" menu that would allow me to read the fine print on several larger pages? A prayer to get started? Your email on the ending menu? Something more than tiny print on a screen?
Humour: 0. Humour would have helped this a bit. Give your ADD audience something to break the monotony and hold your audience's attention. If you don't use flashy graphics, at least use humour.

Overall: 7. Fine, but this could have been so much better.

I hope you found this review helpful. I would be glad to discuss this further through PM or email if you'd like to talk about anything I said here. I also check review responses daily, so I'll see if you post something in reply here.

hectic! The first comment i get and I'm given a whole assignment! =D Couldn't imagine the rest of them...

For the first comment you've made I never really intended this to be a movie, just a message, and if that failed miserably too, then all I really wanted to say was Jesus... :)

With just a few questions I have asked in the presentation, I have provided no "clear" answer... My experiences and mini-testimonies portrayed in this movie are only an addition to the result of who I am today. As I mentioned before, it's not about me and my cartoon, and yes, it is fair to rate and comment on the presentation, feel free. "What is your answer?" is the question that this tool is subjective to.

Competition isn't my motive. Love is my motive. You are right, I have placed myself in the competition... but I don't expect anything but a last. What great is 1st? a reputation of a good entertainer?

I agree with you about something better than nothing. Props for your claims! =D

If people want to really know about Jesus, they can google him or read a bible... or they could not :) I really don't need to hold their hand on this one :)

thanks for the comment. This movie does have more potential for what it is yes... potential is one thing.. a deadline is another :(

Nice job.

Beautiful movie with a worthwhile message. You pulled this off quite well. The only criticism I have pertains to some of the graphic execution; rings on a planet, for example, would not be chopped in half. Also, from a continuity standpoint, you didn't explain how life got onto the surviving chip from the asteroid that decimated our solar system. That's a big plot hole, and I think it's integral to your message. I got the idea, but I think you could have done that part a little better.

Overall, I gave you an 8, because I think there's some room for improvement on this flash. I hope you'll take the time to work on this some more and make it be what it could be. With a bit more effort put into realism, I think this would win awards.

5/5 for effort and excellence, 8/10, faved.

dogmatic055 responds:

Thanks. I kinda wanted the rings to dissapear and kinda fade into nothingness but it just seemed to work a lot better making them break like the planet. Looked more artistic I guess?

Your comments are basically all the problems I have with my own work as well. I didn't quite know how to execute the fact that the asteroid has it's own life on it...originally I wanted a piece of earth to fall into a new planet- makes more sense and delivers the message- but that never worked out. Overall I just left it with the fact that the asteroid comes from this crazy bright star or whatever and has life on it. Idk in the grand scheme the whole thing doesn't make a lot of sense.

But thanks so much for your review. It really put into perspective a lot of things I want to fix about the flash. It was my first animation that I took to completition so I still don't know THAT much about how flash works and how to accomplish what I need to. I just don't know if I'll ever get back to it seeing as how this flash took me a really long time and I'm pretty sick of working on it. We'll see...

Thanks, DogMa

Beautiful.

Congratulations to you and Adolf for a successful journey! What a great ending. I'm really glad you did something different with this one... 'Twas truly unexpected.

It's been a pleasure watching -- and reviewing -- these. I'll catch the ones I missed at some point, and hopefully you'll check back sometime and read (and maybe respond to) those reviews.

I've heard an awful lot of people say that no one could possibly like these flashes for what they are, that people only fived them because of the protection point, that no one could actually enjoy such a thing. Those people are wrong, at least in my case; I truly enjoyed every single episode of this series, watched them all voluntarily, and reviewed them honestly and fairly.

Great ending, and just in the nick of time! I love the timing on the submission... that worked perfectly with the whole thing. And we that's the original picture, right? :) Perfect. Just perfect.

Again, congratulations. Can't wait to see what you'll do next.

<3

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

Yeah, that was the original picture ;)

Wow...

Been a while since I reviewed one of these. I've got some catching up to do! I still watch 'em every day, though, usually while they're in judgement, and I'll review the rest eventually.

This flash was great, as usual! Nice scene, good Photoshop work, and interesting choice of items.

Graphics: 10. Your photoshopping skills have increased greatly since day one. Great work.

Style: 10. This series will forever reign supreme as the pinnacle of style.

Sound: 10. Great songs, great quality.

Violence: 0. Still none!

Interactivity: 2. That's a magnificient play button!

Humour: 4. Nothing particularly funny, but still a good episode.

Overall: 10. Perfection. Sheer perfection.

I'm sad that the series is finally coming to an end. I'm excited to see the final episode, even though I'm pretty sure it will be just another regular episode, but it will be a bittersweet ending, because this has become a Newgrounds staple. It will be sad when the journey has ended.

Collection page? I recall you saying something about being promised one when the series was complete...

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

Yeah, how my Photoshop skills developed over the course of the series was one of the few things I actually enjoyed about making these flashes.

The final episode wasn't just a regular episode (although I did plan on it being so at one point, with a special flash closely following it). I threw some extra stuff in, but not as much as I wanted to. This was due to the fact that a bunch of episodes got flagged and I wasn't sure what would happen with the series. Also by the time the flash was able to continue I had a load of essays to do for college, so I was really limited as to what I could do with the little time I had.

I was joking about the collection page. ;)

Thanks for the review!

It's like deja vu all over again, again.

Good to see this classic, completely non-rule-breaking episode revived once more. I missed it.

Graphics: 8. Hitler chose kind of a dreary day to visit Pakistan, but the colour of his field hockey stick makes up for the lack of colour in the sky. Good PS work, as usual.

Style: 10. This series is the very definition of style, in every way, shape and form.

Violence: 0...

Q. How can it have no violence at all, with Hitler in the picture?
A. Easy. He's just standing there, hanging out, relaxing, and enjoying the day. There is nothing violent (or offensive) about that at all, thus the zero rating for violence.

Interactivity: 2. Play/rofls.

Humour: 8. I thought it was hilarious.

Overall: 10. Regardless of the individual scores, this series as a whole represents perfection in every way.

AfroUnderscoreStud responds:

I agree with every word.

WHAT.
