Meh.

Well, it wasn't bad. I did like the soundtrack, and the graphics were pretty good. The gameplay was a little too simple, and too easy; I just ran all the way east and avoided every single bomb. I'm still avoiding them and racking up points as I type this, actually.

It's a start, but it definitely needs some work... but I think you knew that already, judging by your author remarks.

Looking forward to your next project!

Dont you worry man! My REAL projects are gonna Blow this place Away!!!
Yea there were a few little bugs that we newver managed to sort out and also a few animations we never got to work but overall it still should work well!

Decent game, couple of problems.

This was pretty fun to play. I liked the concept of it a lot, and the design was simple and appealing. I did find the feel of the controls to be a little hard to get used to. Also, the song got really obnoxious after a bit. A little variety there would have helped. Some extra sounds would've been cool, too.

A reset button to start the level (or the game) over would have been helpful, too.

Still, it's decent, and it's kept me entertained for a bit, so that's nice. I just think it needs a few extra features to help it along some.

(Responses are appreciated and encouraged.)

TheKGB responds:

Reviews are appreciated and encouraged too, thank you. I wanted to keep the filesize down on this one, so only two tunes. This was an experiment to see what I could do in a co-op platforming game. There will be better versions later on, with a lot more variety, since I had a bunch of concepts for this that weren't put in.

Nice work.

It's a great little game. I like the graphics and the gameplay is simple but entertaining. I did have a couple of ideas for the next version, though:

1. The game went from being impossibly easy to extremely difficult almost immediately. There wasn't a point at all where a bonus was obtainable, because in the beginning the rows were too far apart, and by the time the rows got close enough together to get a bonus, they were descending too quickly to get more than three in a shot.

2. The pieces weren't that sensitive; I had to roll over some twice for them to pick up that I'd selected them, even when I was moving slowly.

3. Little sound effects, other than the music, would make this more fun.

Otherwise, this is great, and I'm glad to see you're still working on it!

LuckyLollipopLad responds:

Glad you liked it.

1) The bonus is obtainable through most of the game.

At the start, you should have no problem collecting 6 'X's (just after the vertical lines, then wait for them to come again).

Later on, yeah. You can't get a bonus on every set. You aren't really meant to though.

I may have pitched the difficulty a tad too high. May be right.

2) You're right. I didn't put in the interpolation I said I would.

3) LJ Coffee has agreed to try and make some sfx. When they're done, they'll go in. There's no way I could do the bgm justice myself.

Thanks for the smashing review!

It would have been really useful to hear where you got to (both pts and level) as it'd help me realise by what point you feel that 'jump' occurs.

Actually, the speed hardly increases until you get to level 12-x. Thinking about it, the main problem is probably the slow start. I'd like to experiment with maybe having it far faster, then making it actually slow down intentionally as the lines get denser.

Good to know there are folk keen on the new updates of this.

I actually just did it all today as I like to be able to get stuck in.

Thanks again for the awesome review!

LOL!

Nice job! You get 10 style points for having a sense of humour about others' opinions of your work and being willing to take their criticism of it and make something worthwhile out of it. The gameplay was suprisingly good on this, too; smooth animation and a gradually increasing difficulty level that actually made sense. Great song, too.

Your loading screen also looked good, by the way.

I'm impressed, and I hope you keep making flash.

loser2013 responds:

i loved your review, thanks a lot!

Nice work!

I really enjoyed this! The gameplay and graphics are smooth, and I really liked the whole "follow the mouse" style of it. I do wish you'd added some more music, or maybe even an option to listen to several different background tracks, but otherwise, this was a really cool game.

I'll add it to my favourites and come back and try to beat it later on. :)

Komix responds:

Thanks man!

Well, it is always more we coudl do. but sometiems you get to a poitn where it is simply time to submit it somewhere.

Komix

okay...

Very glitchy. I was able to stand in the goal and hold the space bar and score goal after goal after goal without moving.

Also, only two players on each team = somewhat dull. Sounds were unimaginative... where's the crowd cheering or the sound of the ball being kicked? Graphics were pretty flat and boring too.

Sorry, but this needs a lot of work. It's a good start, though. Now you have to iron out the details.

boney-man responds:

Well, I know it's glitchy. That's why I might make a sequel. And, the song was by me, I'm not THAT good at making music. But it's the best I ever made.

Not bad, but...

This is helpful, but probably unnecessary. It's unlikely that new folks will see this (or any of the other flashes that have been made that are like this one). Good thought, though.

It annoyed me that the music reset every time I went back to the main menu -- and that a click back to the main menu was required for each section. It would've been cool if the music could've kept going continuously through the flash, and if the various sections could have been clicked through directly instead of requiring me to start over for each section.

Like I said, good try.

HomerDough responds:

you mean like a go to next subject button?

Nice!

Nice work! Your artwork looks great; you obviously spent a lot of time on this.

A little bit of sound would've helped, though. If not music in the background, at least a few little plips and plops when dropping the stuff on him... or something. I dunno, just something to give it more character. If you go with music, make sure you offer an option to turn it off, though!

Hmmmmmm what else. Oh! Sunglasses go *behind* hair. :) Otherwise, from what I could see, it looked like you lined things up the way they should go (shoes behind pants, armband over shirts, etc.).

I hope this passes, and I hope to see more of your work on NG!

SammyFox728 responds:

Thank you very much. You're the first to notice the sunglasses thing...lol...I was a little lazy I will admit. I will see about making more things...thanks

Very helpful!

This is very useful information, and it's laid out well with the different difficulty levels. I also appreciated the fact that you actually put in screen shots from Flash, so viewers can see exactly what they're looking for.

The only thing I didn't enjoy about this was that there was no way to turn the music off, so I was forced to listen to yours while going through the steps in your flash. Not that your music sucks or anything, but I'd prefer to have the option to listen to my own.

Otherwise, a great tutorial, and very useful. Thanks for submitting it!

klayness responds:

Thanks! I'll try to update that if i can.

WHAT.
