Okay, but small.

It's okay, but there are very few options on this soundboard. You said you split it up due to file size, but the file size of this portion is only 141K! That's really small. Surely you could put all three into one file.

Otherwise, it's alright, but with only a few choices of sounds, this was kind of boring.

0celot responds:

141k?!?!? My computer said 14mb.1. LOL. Must have read it wrong :P So i guess number 2 will have it all in

Great game with a couple of problems.

First, the good. This is a fun, addicting, unique game with great graphics and playability. I really liked having the ability to configure my character, and the unlockable levels were also a really nice touch. Makes me want to go back and play again so I can get through the whole thing.

But, the camera speed was a *huge* shortcoming; not being able to see where my character was made it annoying to play even the easier levels. Often, by the time the camera would catch up with my character, he would have jumped another level up, and by the time the camera would catch up again, he'd already be falling down -- nowhere near the bits I was aiming for in the first place. Very frustrating.

Otherwise, this is great, and I hope you'll fix that camera thing so I can go back and play the rest of it.

ChromeShark responds:

Hi and thanks for the review. Camera panning - big headache in production. I'll carry on tweaking it to see if I can get it any better.

Nice job!

This is a great soundboard! It's laid out in an easy-to-use fashion, the sounds are good quality, and there's a great selection. My only suggestion would be to make all of the pages accessible with buttons at the top, so instead of hitting "next" to scroll through the pages, I could just hit "greetings" or "questions" and be taken right to the page with those on it. Not that I'd ever need to change pages quickly for phone calls or anything... honest. :)

Otherwise, this is great work, and you got my 5 vote. Can't wait to see what's up next!

wizardman responds:

Thanks. Sorting everything out into it's own page wold be a pretty nice idea, but it's be hard to make a prank call with that since you'd have to keep jumping around over and over. That's for the review though, glad you liked it. I"ll keep your idea in mine though.

Suggestions...

I read your response to another review where you said Clock Day is the only time your submissions stand a chance. That's not true, but you have to be willing to work on your skills.

Consider taking some tutorials on Flash. Below that same link you clicked to submit your flash is a little link that says, "LEARN FLASH." Follow that link and you'll find a bunch of tutorials on how to make your animations look and sound good. Do some of those tutorials and your next effort should be a lot better.

Your flash needs a real preloader. On the Newgrounds Flash Portal page, there's a link right below the "Submit" button that says, "GET NG LOADERS N' STUFF!" Click that link to download a .FLA with a preloader in it. Copy and paste the first frame of that into your animation, and you'll have a preloader, complete with a start button.

Your animation was extremely choppy. Consider using motion tweens and increasing your frame rate to make the animation smoother.

The graphics in this movie were poorly done. Consider spending some more time on making your artwork look realistic -- or at least recognizable.

Your game was pretty short. Why not build on it and make it longer and better?

Hope that helps. Good luck with your next flash!

Rabid-Animals responds:

This was done in Flash 4.
1. The NG preloader won't work on it.
2. Framerate was 18 fps. That's 6 above the normal 12.
3. Motion tweens were used. Your computer might just be slow.

Thanks for everything else though.

Not bad...

Not bad, but would have been a lot more fun had you added sound.

Also, some more cursor options would've been cool. I did like the SBC cursor; why not make some more, though? There are hundreds of clocks you could add to this.

Also, a more interesting background would be nice.

It's a start, though. :)

El-Moo responds:

What the hell did you think the switch button was for?

Awesome!

Nice job! I really like the descriptions you did on this map, especially of the Solo Flash Artists' realm. Nice job with the interactive map and graphics, though. Simple, but amusing and definitely appropriate -- and mostly accurate.

A little music would've helped, but otherwise, this is perfect.

5d. And Happy Clock Day.

(We'll miss you.)

Ivanovitch responds:

K thx. Happy Clockday :)

nice game...

I liked the gameplay and style of this a lot. It's a fun game, and I'd play it for a long longer if:

1. Losing didn't take me all the way back to the main screen, where I have to wait for it to load, then hit play, then wait for the reselect screen to load, then reselect the mode, then wait for the game to load. It'd be nice just to hit "try again" and play the same level again.

2. The music got really old really quickly. An option to change it, or an option to turn it off, would have made this a lot more fun. Yes, I know, I have a mute button, but then I can't listen to other music on my computer -- which I'd like to be able to if the music for a game isn't any good.

3. Other sound effects would've been nice, as well.

Don't get me wrong; I liked this game, but it does need a few improvements, I think.

Good luck!

DonutMaster responds:

I added a retry button and sound mute, just for you!

Ouch!

After playing your other version of this game for a bit, I figured I'd come back and play this one again to compare. This version is definitely harder, that's for sure; even the first level was quite difficult, and the second was nearly impossible. I didn't like the fact that moving the mouse off the edge reset the game; I wish it had just left the character hanging out on the edge or something, where it could die if touched by a black thing but wouldn't die immediately. I can't count the number of times I tried to move out of the way of an object and died because I went off the screen.

Also, it was hard to tell where the edge of the screen actually was in relation to the musical note. It is possible to move the note a little bit off of the edge, but not very far... and that was frustrating!

The music is still great, but I really don't like the gameplay on this one at all. It's too hard, there's not any rhyme or reason to the enemies' movements, and it's strictly a memorization game -- just like the other version.

Sorry, but I didn't enjoy this much.

Jimtopia responds:

So ya had to come back and lower this one's score also, huh?

Hm.

It's a step up from the last one, for sure; at least it's not quite so difficult this time time around. However, it's still almost entirely a memorization game; there's no way at all to predict where the black object will move next, and since it goes so quickly, the only way to win is to play the level, lose, and remember where you lost so you can *not* be in that spot the next time. Not much fun, honestly.

Also, I wasn't a big fan of the musical note graphic behaved; the trail that it left behind it just added to the frustration and I wasn't a big fan of its shape as a main character to begin with. It's different, and it's interesting, I'll give it that, but it just wasn't the right fit for me.

I'd love to see something new on the next version, and perhaps something a little less pointlessly difficult. Give us a fair fight against the mysterious black objects! What about a shield, or a bonus that would shrink the size of the objects for a bit? *Something* like that would help.

Also, continues would be wonderful. Starting over completely after losing wasn't fun at all.

I did really like the music, though, but adding one more song to the mix -- or maybe even two -- would've made it more interesting.

Sorry, but I really wasn't a fan of this game as it is right now. I'd certainly play the next edition and give it a chance, though, as I like the concept -- just not the gameplay of this version.

Hope that helps. I always appreciate responses to my reviews! :)

Jimtopia responds:

You want a fair fight, huh? lol, okay I will work on that for next time. Well, not much else to say in this response I guess.

Nice work!

I liked this! Great choices of music, and a good variety. Nice effects, too. (You didn't mention clicking to change the effects in your description, by the way.) Nice big area to play around with, and the effects (for the most part) last long enough that it's possible to create a nice big screen full of fun.

Good job on this.

(Responses are always appreciated!)

tnx man!
was an insightful review :)
