Very helpful!

This is very useful information, and it's laid out well with the different difficulty levels. I also appreciated the fact that you actually put in screen shots from Flash, so viewers can see exactly what they're looking for.

The only thing I didn't enjoy about this was that there was no way to turn the music off, so I was forced to listen to yours while going through the steps in your flash. Not that your music sucks or anything, but I'd prefer to have the option to listen to my own.

Otherwise, a great tutorial, and very useful. Thanks for submitting it!

Thanks! I'll try to update that if i can.

Another supreme submission

Such a bizarre concept... but it works, and, as you said, this is quite an addicting game.

Since you consistently put so much effort into your reviews, I'll do the same for you:

Graphics: 7. I realize you put a huge amount of effort into the coding on this, so I don't want to beat you up too badly, but I do feel like you could have put a tiny bit more effort into the graphics you used in this game. As a fan of your other work, I know you're capable of some amazing art, and I don't think you did this quite the justice you could have.

Style: 10. Great concept and perfect implementation. Kudos to you for pulling it off.

Sound: 7. The occasional sound effect would have helped here.

Violence: N/A.

Interactivity: 10. There's no way one could *not* interact with this Flash.

Humor: 9. Your mind is twisted and warped. I like it.

Overall: 8.5, rounding up to a 9. Although there's a little room for improvement, this is great work, and as I've said before, I'm looking forward to seeing more from you.

Check your PMs, if you haven't already.

not bad

I like the idea of this game, and the gameplay was great -- and, as you said, addicting. My biggest problem with this one was the lack of sound, which made it boring after a few minutes. If you added some sound effects to it, I would score it two or three points higher overall.

Graphics were fine, although a bit dull. I would love to see some background images (don't make it too hard to see the bricks or bombs, though -- at least, not at first). An extremely rare collectible power-up that would "nuke" the bombs would be cool, too (by pushing space, perhaps).

Great start, though, and I hope to see a future release of this game from you!

well...

I'll go out on a limb here and say that I think Brookers is pretty funny. Your sound board was well done -- although I kind of wish you'd finished the other pages before submitting it. (Then again, considering the response it's gotten, maybe NG isn't the place for it.) The only thing I'd suggest changing is adding something to differentiate between two side-by-side buttons -- because they kind of run together as they are.

Nice effort, though, and I'm sorry it's scoring so low.

Unplayable...

Looks like a great game! The keyboard restart thing was really frustrating, though; seems like anything that calls the focus out of the play window triggers it. I got an IM; the game restarted. I had to alt-tab to another window; the game restarted. I moved the mouse out of the window; the game restarted. That's annoying, and unless I can find time to play this when I'm doing absolutely nothing else, it's not gonna happen.

The graphics seemed great, though, from what I was able to get to, and the playing style -- again, from what I could see -- seemed smooth. I hope you'll fix that bug so I can try playing this again!

JonBro responds:

Well, I had the no-keyboard-clicking to keep people from cheating. If you press TAB, it shows a yellow box around any button. Try it yourself on this game's menu.

yeah

Well, it's a mouse game, just like every other mouse game -- although I do like the fact that you added some time limits in there through the use of permanently closing doors.

But, I think you need to work on the graphics a bit more, and you definitely need to compress that sound so the file size isn't so huge. This should not be a five meg download.

askfjadksfjaksljdf!!!

Great idea, but this is way too short to give me any idea of what the game will be like. Expand it to a full level, then submit the game -- or better yet, finish it and then submit it to NG.

0/5, because as it is, this is useless. But the idea is great, and I'd love to play the game when it's complete.

ok

I'm blamming this because it's completely unfinished and should be in Alphas, BUT I think this is great work, and I'd really like to see the finished product -- or at least something that's a bit more far along than this.

Keep it up, though, and don't let the blammers discourage you, because this definitely has potential.

Probably great...

Game looks and feels fine... I'm on a laptop, so I couldn't really play it to its fullest, but it seemed like it'd be good. I voted to protect, at any rate.

some feedback

Good game... I played it for a lot longer than I usually would play a random flash game.

Some suggestions or ideas:

1. Vary the background sound from level to level. By level 4, I was ready to turn the gun on myself just to get rid of the repeptitive background noise. The other sounds were great, though.

2. The levels felt like they dragged on just a little too long. Perhaps shorter levels that increase in difficulty gradually might work better?

3. The varied enemies are great, and the fact that they all behave differently is perfect. The "Ghost" box turning into a ghost and then coming back is genius. The cupcakes, however, weren't really hard to nail at all; I consistently got every single one and I'm not that good.

4. The bonus for the cupcakes wasn't much of a bonus. Maybe that's intentional because they're so easy to hit...

5. I'd like to see the background change with the levels, too. Maybe make the background at the higher levels so it's a little harder to see what's coming? Or a cupcake background? Don't make it too harder; just enough to screw with people a little.

Just some thoughts. Take 'em as you will.

WHAT.
